Biography

Scott P. Cragg was appointed to the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the United States Secret Service in October 2010. Prior to his arrival at the Secret Service, Mr. Cragg held executive positions as the Special Assistant to the CIO, Deputy CIO Enterprise Strategic Plans, Programs & Policy, and Chief Architect at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; Chief Information Officer at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency; and Deputy CIO – Operations, and Deputy Assistant Secretary Technical Services at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Mr. Cragg has a diversified background leading transformational and technology programs, such as the Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record Program and VISTA Electronic Health Record Open Source initiative at the Department of Veterans Affairs. He began his career at the Naval Air Systems Command, as an aerospace engineer and served as Chief Engineer, EA-6B Carrier Based Electronic Warfare Aircraft Program; Deputy Program Manager, Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Program; Deputy Program Manager, Acquisition Information Systems; and Assistant Program Manager, Navy/Marine Corps Aircraft Global Positioning Systems at the Naval Space and Warfare Command. He ended his tenure with the Navy as a senior staff officer for Marine Aviation in the office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary, Navy - Research, Development & Acquisition in the Pentagon.

Mr. Cragg was appointed to the Board of the Government Information Technology Executive Council in 2003, holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Boston University and a Masters degree in Engineering Administration from George Washington University. Mr. Cragg was a fellow with the Council for Excellence in Government, and has completed both the Intelligence Community Senior Leader Program and the Defense Systems Management College Program Managers Course. Mr. Cragg is also a recipient of the “IT Federal 100” award.
