An employee of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Charles Sanders is an IT Integration Manager for the Information Technology & Communications Directorate (ITCD). Mr. Sanders has over 15 years of IT knowledge and experience with most of that being acquired at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. He began his career in the United States Navy where he learned the trade as a stationary Conventional Engineer and carried his skills to the Department of the Navy and NASA.
As a Y2K project manager from 1997 to 2000 for the Facilities Management Division at Goddard, he successfully helped the Center transition into the new millennium by testing and augmenting computer systems in preparation to move into the year 2000. He was also the NASA lead for Facilities Management systems for providing Y2K transitional guidance to other NASA Centers.
Since 2009, Mr. Sanders has been involved with one of NASA’s key IT initiatives: Data Center Consolidation. Mr. Sanders has been a key leader in identifying assets and the collection of data in preparation for consolidating NASA’s data centers.Mr. Sanders oversees a number of IT service contracts at the Goddard Space Flight Center. He strategically and tactically plans for Agency and Center-wide information technology initiatives, thus assuring technology decisions meet NASA’s strategic goals.
Mr. Sanders holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix and is a graduate of the 2010 Voyagers Program. He is also an active member of ACT/IAC, AFCEA and GITEC. In his free time, Mr. Sanders is a certified Zumba Instructor and a professional photographer.
