The theme for this year's awards reflects the theme of the GITEC Summit 2012 to be held in Baltimore, MD at the Sheraton Inner Harbor May 20-22, 2012: Shared IT Services – From Concept through Implementation

Awards are for federal government projects that have achieved success in one of the following areas:
  1. Cost Savings / Cost Avoidance through shared services
  2. Innovative approach
  3. Pioneering approach to virtualization
  4. Great customer experience - delivery meets vision, least disruptive
  5. Successful partitioning of customer applications and reporting
An award will be given to the project judged to be the best in each of the five categories, i.e., five awards. The awards will be given to the government project team during the plenary sessions.

The nominations will be reviewed by the GITEC Board and members of the Executive Advisory Committee comprised of industry and government. Nominations should include the metrics by which the project was deemed a success, the approach to secure the data, how the project supports the agency mission, lessons learned and / or best practices that were applied and any innovative tools, methodologies, or processes that helped make the project a success.
