Rick Miller currently manages federal civilian sales for Mark
Logic. Miller's background includes 25+ years of information systems and
management experience, during which time he held leadership roles as GM Federal
for Micromuse (acquired by IBM in 2006), Dir Civilian
Sales for IBM, CIO for the Chief of Naval Operations, CIO Electrolux North
America, DCIO for the US Dept of Education, and President of his own consulting
company. Mark
Logic is the industry's leading XML server based on open standards. Customers
use MarkLogic Server to enable a wide variety of
information applications including custom publishing, search-based
applications, content analytics, unified information access, metadata catalogs,
and threat intelligence systems. MarkLogic Server
provides state-of-the-art features including location awareness, real-time
search, and a shared-nothing cluster architecture that supports high
performance against petabyte-scale databases.
Prior to Mark Logic, IBM and Micromuse,
Miller served as the U.S. Department of Education's principal Deputy Chief Information
Officer from 2000-2003. He was responsible for the information systems
architecture, network and telecommunications design and operations,
configuration management and Information Technology/Information Management
contract management. He joined the Department from Electrolux, where he served
as Senior Vice President for North American IT operations. Prior to Electrolux
he served in various capacities as vice president of IT Operations for Simione Central, program manager for Ryder Integrated
Logistics, and was President of his own consulting firm, Ebiz
Consulting. Miller's other accomplishments include managing
the development of multiple IT systems for the Department of Defense as an
account manager for EDS, serving as one of the first CIO's for the Chief of
Naval Operations, and completing a distinguished navy career as a naval flight
officer. In 2002, Miller was
awarded the FCW 'Fed 100' award as one of the top 100 federal/commercial
leaders contributing to the federal government's success. Miller is a 1974
graduate of the Naval Academy and earned a Masters of Information Systems degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1991. Married to his wife, Meg, they have 2 daughters, Katie
and Brynne.
